Why not do a google search? Seriously you are on a binary options website and you are asking about mutual funds? Kinda well very dumb... Be offended if you like but come on lol.. Am I wrong?
Once a year the financial weekly newspaper Barrons has a total issue completely devoted to the many hundreds of american Mutual funds as well as a fairly complete list of them. An annual subscription to Barrons is a fairly pricey thing nowadays, but they also sell individual issue copies at various newsstands. Your public library also will often have a subscription to them too. Yes...they take securities investors. They function similarly to ETFs' exchange traded funds in logic but have preceded them in history, so they have operational differences compared to ETF's. I'll bet there's a bang-up description of Mutual funds at www.wikipedia.org. But otherwise, I'll have to defer to the Sysadmin here.
i was just being mean as this site is for binary options and has nothing to do with mutual funds. We have the internet if you get an idea or want to know anything and I do mean just about anything you can GOOGLE it 7000 ways to sunday... Example
